Olympic Ogees

I started a little hand work project while on vacation - just some simple hexies. In two weeks' time, I managed to finish a single ogee.

With the Olympics starting Friday night, I thought this would be the perfect project. I wouldn't have to move the television or my sewing machine, and I could still make progress on something I really want to see get closer to finished.

During the opening ceremonies, I managed to baste all the hexagons and piece this much:

Saturday, I easily finished it and started cutting out more templates for another.

Sunday, I finished another before bed!

That's right, it took two weeks to finish the first ogee and only two days to finish two more! At this rate, I'm toying with the idea of actually making it a bed-sized quilt instead of a baby blanket or wall hanging.

I'm quite proud of myself. I didn't expect to finish two more, much less clean out the pantry and fridge, do three loads of dishes, cook dinner Sunday, drive my daughter to see a movie with her friends, drive to pick her up again, and get about half of the mountain of laundry that's been filling my laundry room cleaned and folded. What a weekend! I even managed to get a pedicure and have lunch with my dear, dear friend who will be moving away to California this week.

Unfortunately, I can't spend all day every day sitting in front of the telly sewing. I do have a day job. Back to it!
